Christine McGuinness Talks Being Wear, Neurodiversity and New Beginnings in New Magazine

Being Wear has been featured in the 17 August 2026 print edition of New magazine, as part of an exclusive interview with our UK brand advocate, Christine McGuinness, fronting our UK launch.

Appearing on the magazine’s cover under the headline “I’m seen as more than Paddy’s wife now,” Christine opens up about building a life that feels true to who she is. She discusses motherhood, her autism and ADHD, writing her first novel and finding her own identity after years in the public eye.

Christine also shares why Being Wear’s approach to underwear immediately resonated with her and her family.

“It hit home and resonated with me straightaway because I’m always cutting labels off our clothing,” Christine told New magazine.

As an autistic woman and mum to three autistic children, Christine understands how seemingly small clothing details can have a significant effect on daily comfort. Harsh seams, scratchy labels and restrictive waistbands can make getting dressed—and staying comfortable throughout the day—far more difficult for people with sensory sensitivities.

Being Wear was created with these experiences in mind. Our underwear uses super-soft modal fabric and sensory-considerate details, with no irritating tags or harsh seams.

The article also highlights our decision to move away from traditional men’s and women’s categories. Instead, Being Wear products are designed around bodies, fit and individual preferences rather than gender.

“Imagine going into a shop and it just being gender-free shopping, where you can all wear whatever you want—not his or hers. I really love it,” Christine said.

That freedom to choose what feels right is central to Being Wear. We believe underwear should help people feel comfortable and confident without forcing them into a category that may not represent who they are.

Christine’s honesty, lived experience and advocacy for neurodivergent people make her an incredibly authentic voice for our UK launch. Her message about becoming more comfortable with herself reflects what Being Wear has always stood for: giving every human being the freedom to feel like themselves.

We’re incredibly proud to see Christine and Being Wear featured in New magazine as our sensory-friendly, gender-free underwear reaches more people across the UK.
